Virginia's View Challenge #20

Hello and happy November!
It's time for a new challenge and we are going to dig into one of the essential elements of stamping/card-making.

That is...TEXTURE!
Handmade cards are appealing to us because we can touch and feel the textures from the artistic expressions of the card-makers. There is something special when you can touch and feel the cards. You probably have been adding textures to your design without even knowing it since texture plays an integral part in stamping/card-making.

The focus on textures:  please create cards with Gesso, acrylic paints, textured/embossing paste, sandpaper, dry embossing (use those old/new embossing folders!!), embossing powder, cork, burlap, fabric, canvas, felt, wood-grain, DIY textures (using Crimper or score board, embossing folders) OR simply use any textured paper....the sky is the limit!

My card shows the example of using embossing paste and DIY burlap embellishment.
sending joy
This card seems to be quite thick, but it really just has foam backing. With the added silver embossing paste, stamped woodgrain and colored burlap, this card offers unexpected depth and textures.

My 2nd card uses burlap predominantly. However, with the inlaid stitched leaf die, this card gives a sense of warmth and homespun feel. The added burlap layer completes the fall look.
just for you

Let's not forget the added textures such as Stickles and Pico Embellisher! They may be small touches, but the impact is huge!

Are you inspired to create for this challenge? I sure hope so!

This monthly card-making challenge blog will run till the 18th (11:55pm Eastern Time) and there will be a SPOTLIGHT feature of Top 10 Favorites on the 25th. Any style and all levels are most welcome! You can read more about the challenge guidelines at the bottom of the page. Among the Top 10 Fav, there will be a random draw for a lucky (and talented) winner who will then receive the top prize. In order to qualify for the top prize, your project has to be NEW (not linked back to a previously made project). You are welcome to combine other challenges, but please limit your total number of challenges to no more than 4.

Our Top Winner (randomly selected from Top 10 Favorites) will receive a $25 voucher!

Thanks for this challenge, Virginia. You're so right, texture is something so beautiful on a handmade card. I love your inspiration, especially the second autumn themed card with that burlap in the background. Fantastic idea!

Virginia, your cards are simply beautiful. What a great theme.

I was about to add a "tag" I created with texture, but I just read that you are asking us to create a "card".
